Resurgent Torino will be looking to post their first Serie A win over Lazio since May 2019 when the two sides meet at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
A brace of 2-1 defeats at the beginning of this Serie A campaign cast doubt on Ivan Juric’s future at Torino, but the ‘Granata’ responded in emphatic fashion, winning their subsequent two league matches by an aggregate score of 5-0. A 4-0 thrashing of newly-promoted Salernitana in their most recent Serie A outing at the Olimpico di Torino means the hosts could win back-to-back top-flight matches on home turf for the first time since July 2020. That could be easier said than done, though, as they’ve only won one of their previous seven Serie A meetings with Lazio at home (D2, L4), including the last two in a row. Despite poor results in their recent league H2Hs here, there’s been plenty of entertainment across those games. Indeed, four of their last five Serie A H2Hs in Turin have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring.
In the meantime, Lazio’s blistering start to the season under new boss Maurizio Sarri has started to fade away a bit, with the ‘Biancocelesti’ going from back-to-back Serie A victories to two league games without winning (D1, L1). Still waiting for their first top-flight clean sheet under Sarri’s stewardship, the visitors have conceded precisely twice in their last two Serie A outings, last letting in 2+ league goals three times on the trot in March. However, Lazio will be looking to make history here and beat Torino in three successive away Serie A H2Hs for the first time in their top-flight history. Interestingly, none of Lazio’s previous 13 away league fixtures have ended level (W5, L8), including five defeats in the most recent six.
