Chelsea vs Burnley

Stamford Bridge is the venue as Premier League pacesetters Chelsea play host to early relegation candidates Burnley.

Chelsea followed up a 3-0 thrashing of Newcastle United with a narrow 1-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League to set themselves up nicely for this fixture. Thomas Tuchel’s men have turned into a force to be reckoned with since a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in late September, racking up four straight Premier League victories to move to the top of the table. The ‘Blues’ are likely to maintain their three-point lead over second-placed Liverpool, having won their last four top-flight meetings with Burnley by an aggregate score of 12-2. Though Tuchel will be without Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner through injuries, Chelsea should have no problems in the front third after netting 2+ goals in five consecutive Premier League H2Hs as hosts (W3, D1, L1). What’s more, they’ve scored a staggering average of 3.2 goals per home match this term.

On the other hand, Burnley claimed a 3-1 home win over the league newcomers Brentford last time out to get off the mark in the Premier League following a nine-game winless start (D4, L5). After conceding 2+ goals in each of their five top-flight road trips this season, it comes as no surprise that the odds are stacked against the ‘Clarets’ here. Yet, Burnley can draw some inspiration from turning their fortunes in London around of late. They’ve gone from winning just three of their first 30 Premier League matches in London (D4, L23) to picking up five wins in their last eight visits to the capital (L3). Yet, it’s worth noting that only three Premier League sides have netted fewer away goals than Burnley (5) this season.
