Lazio vs Juventus

Stadio Olimpico is the venue as Lazio and Juventus face off in a handsomely-looking Serie A showdown.

A comprehensive 3-0 home win over newly-promoted Salernitana on the stroke of the international break kept Lazio only one point shy of the Serie A top four. Yet, a lack of consistency has seen none of their last eight league matches featuring the same outcome twice in a row (W4, D2, L2). Despite their form wobble, the ‘Biancocelesti’ have been nothing short of exceptional at home this season, winning all but one of their six Serie A games at the Stadio Olimpico thus far (D1). That should be encouraging as they look to keep Juventus at bay for the first time in 17 Serie A home H2Hs. Indeed, following the abovementioned win over Salernitana, Lazio could record back-to-back Serie A clean sheets for the first time since January.

In the meantime, Juan Cuadrado’s last-gasp winner handed Juventus an all-important 1-0 home triumph over Fiorentina last time out, putting an end to their dismal three-game winless run in Serie A (D1, L2). However, a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal has seen the ‘Bianconeri’ score precisely one goal in their last six league outings in a row. If they fail to improve up top, Juve could go seven consecutive Serie A matches without scoring 2+ goals for the first time since October 2008. After falling to a 2-1 defeat to Hellas Verona in their most recent league trip, the record-time Italian champions could lose back-to-back Serie A away matches for the first time since July 2020. On a positive note, they’ve only lost two of their last 33 Serie A meetings with Lazio (W24, D7).
