King Power Stadium is the venue as Leicester City take on Premier League pacesetters Chelsea in a mammoth showdown.
Leicester have gone from two consecutive Premier League wins to back-to-back league games without winning (D2, L2), sliding to 12th in the standings. The home side’s main concern heading into this fixture is a fragile backline that has only kept one clean sheet in the last 17 Premier League games. However, since defeating Wolverhampton 1-0 on the opening matchday of the season, the ‘Foxes’ have conceded at least once in ten subsequent league matches on the trot, letting in an average of 1.8 goals per game in that period. That said, the Midlanders have kept Chelsea goalless twice in their last three top-flight H2Hs on home turf (W1, D2) and could go four straight home league H2Hs without losing for the first time since 1995. But since beating Manchester United 1-0 in 1998, they’ve gone winless in 16 Premier League clashes against sides starting the day at the summit (D2, L14).
In the meantime, Burnley’s late equalizer at Stamford Bridge held Chelsea to a shock 1-1 draw on the cusp of the international break, bringing their four-match winning Premier League streak to a halt. However, the ‘Blues’ still hold a three-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, mainly thanks to their impressive away form. Thomas Tuchel’s men have won four of their five Premier League road matches this term (D1), including the last three in a row without conceding. Another win ‘to nil’ here would see Chelsea post four such triumphs in a row for the first time since December 2008. Worryingly, though, the reigning Champions League holders have failed to win both Premier League clashes against last season’s top-five sides (D1, L1), scoring just once across those encounters.
