Chelsea vs Leeds United

Chelsea will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they face bottom-half Leeds United at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea followed up a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at West Ham last time out with an enthralling 3-3 draw at Zenit St Petersburg in midweek Champions League action. Those six goals conceded in the past seven days are as many as they let in across their opening 14 Premier League games this season. A brace of 1-1 home draws with Burnley and Manchester United means the ‘Blues’ could go winless in three Premier League home fixtures on the bounce for the first time since the start of 2019/20 under Frank Lampard. Luckily for Thomas Tuchel, Leeds’ visit to Stamford Bridge comes at the best possible moment, with Chelsea winning each of their last four top-flight H2Hs on home turf, including a commanding 3-1 victory back in 2020/21. Other competitions included, the Londoners are unbeaten in their last six meetings with Leeds (W4, D2).

As for Leeds, a run of three Premier League games without losing (W1, D2) has helped them build a six-point lead over 18th-placed Burnley, but they are not off the hook yet. Indeed, the ‘Whites’ have only won one of their seven away league matches this term (D3, L3), scoring just six goals while conceding 11 in return across those clashes. A trip to London is likely to stir more unpleasant memories, as Leeds have registered just two wins in their last 32 away fixtures in the capital, all competitions included (D7, L23). Conceding first could spell disaster for the visitors’ hopes of upsetting the odds here – Marcelo Bielsa’s men have won none of the six Premier League games when falling behind this season (D3, L3).
