Vannes vs Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain head to the Stade de la Rabine to take on fourth-tier outfit Vannes in what should be a straightforward Coupe de France task for the Ligue 1 pacesetters.

Vannes have overcome the likes of fellow lower-league sides Saint-Philbert, Ergue-Gaberic, and Wasquehal in the previous three Coupe de France rounds to set up the greatest fixture in the club’s history. Despite winning their last three competitive matches by an aggregate score of 9-2, the hosts will likely look for damage limitation here. The ‘White-Blacks’ have failed to win any of their last five home games (D3, L2), scoring under 1.5 goals four times in the process. Encouragingly, though, Pierre Talmont’s men have conceded one goal or less in each of their last five outings across all competitions. With each of their last six home goals scored/conceded coming before half-time, the Stade de la Rabine crowd could be in for a first-half treat.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain made light work of another lower-league side Feignies-Aulnoye in the previous Coupe de France round, cruising to a landslide 3-0 away victory. Coming into new year proceedings, ‘Les Parisiens’ are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions (W4, D3), keeping three clean sheets in that sequence while conceding precisely once in the other four. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have struggled with inconsistent performances on the road lately, alternating between winning and drawing across their last four competitive travels (W2, D2). Though they are odds-on favorites to cruise past Vannes here, PSG may still concede, having failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven competitive away matches.
