Rock-bottom Norwich City are set to trade tackles with high-flying Chelsea in an exciting midweek Premier League fixture at Carrow Road.
Norwich City appear to be sinking without a trace after a run of four Premier League defeats in a row shipped them back to the bottom of the table. Desperate to bounce back from a 3-1 thrashing to Brentford at home last weekend, the ‘Canaries’ face a formidable challenge in the shape of a Chelsea side they lost to 7-0 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge. Additionally, they’ve gone winless against in their last 13 Premier League H2Hs (D2, L11), losing five in a row since a goalless draw in London back in May 2014. Under-pressure manager Dean Smith has a lot on his plate as Norwich head into proceedings having failed to win 28 of their last 29 Premier League midweek matches (D8, L20), including a run of 13 (D3, L10) since beating Watford in May 2016.
On the other hand, Chelsea look to be unfazed by the ongoing ownership wobble as they will take the field on a run of three Premier League victories by an aggregate score of 7-0. Looking to win four consecutive top-flight games without conceding for the first time since December 2016, the ‘Blues’ come into this matchday on the back of a 4-0 thumping of Norwich’s fellow relegation rivals Burnley. Even though each of their four goals scored at Turf Moor last weekend arrived in the second half of play, Chelsea remain one of only three Premier League sides to have netted 10+ goals either side of half-time away from home this season. But despite going unbeaten in all four Premier League midweek games this term, the visitors have drawn three of them (W1).
