Police Tero vs Port

The continuation of the interrupted Thai League 1 matchday-four clash between Police Tero and Port takes place at the Boonyachinda Stadium this midweek.

Despite being a man down, Police Tero were 1-0 up in the first half before a heavy downpour stopped the play in the 39th minute when the initial showdown took place a fortnight ago. The ‘Silver Shield Dragon’ have since gone winless in back-to-back league matches (D1, L1) after conceding the opening goal on each occasion. Police Tero’s abysmal Thai League 1 start has seen them lose three of their first four top-flight fixtures (D1) via an aggregate score of 8-2. But it’s worth noting that four of the eight league goals they’ve conceded this term came in a 4-1 thumping at the hands of Buriram United last time out. That doesn’t change the fact that Rangsan Viwatchaichok’s men head into proceedings pinned to the relegation zone, three points adrift of safety.

In the meantime, visiting Port have blown hot and cold in the early stage of the season, though they’ve only lost once in their opening five league outings (W2, D2). But the visitors have gone from back-to-back top-flight triumphs to consecutive matches without winning (D1, L1), including a tepid goalless draw away to Nong Bua Pitchaya last time out. Another share of the spoils may not be a disappointment from Port’s point of view, considering they’ve lost all of their six league visitors to Police Tero since a 2-0 win in 2012. With four of those six defeats yielding multi-goal margins, there’s no doubt the ‘Port Lions’ would settle for a draw without thinking twice. Adding to this sentiment, they’ve lost eight of their ten away league games in 2022 (D2).
